Wednesday 11th February – Windsurf * River Orwell at Levington –
mainly cloudy with brief glimpse of sun!
Foil – 19.38 knot max, 17.87 knot ave(year PB)., 5.50 knot hour, 14.74
knot mile(year PB), 19.50 km., 14.14 knot alpha.
Starboard Freeride 150 (LW) and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham
Bolt 6.5m.
Today looked promising for a windsurf with a good breeze from the wsw and
mild too, the wind was light first thing so I had time to do my exercises.
The breeze started to build so I decided to drove over to Levington Marina
around midday as the tide reached low on the River Orwell. There was enough
wind to tempt me out with my 6.5 and I launched by the marina entrance and
sailed straight out to the deep water, I beat up river and although I did
have some good flying runs once again the wind was very up and down, so
this is my 4th session of the year and to be honest they have all been
poor, I am looking forward to getting back on the sea where the wind is
more constant but things need to warm up a little first! I had one long run
up towards Pin Mill before the wind dropped out and I had a slow sail back!
The highlight was when I was packing up there was a bit of a rainbow:)
